I always seem to see people either eagerly waiting for Valentine's Day to come so that they can spend time with their loved ones. Or to have a reason to eat chocolate like a pig. That's cool too. However, I also always see single, usually, females and males raging and hating towards this holiday. Two very differing options. So, I thought I would join in and give you my take on Valentine's day, with 13 reasons as to why I don't really care.
1. Singularity
Okay, so I admit it, I'm single. Forever alone in my lonely world of science. Even when I did have a boyfriend I was still pretty nonchalant about it. But still, being single your view on days about love is really biased. But that's okay.

Saint Valentine is a well recognized third century Roman saint. Who happened to die on the Feburary 14th. However famous for what you might say? Nothing that we can be sure of. So basically you're telling me to celebrate some man death, whose acts are not reliably known, by buying chocolates and whatnot. Hm. Sounds legit.
3. School

It's a holiday. So where is my day off from school? If I still have to go to school and drown in my IB classes and textbooks then I don't really care much for it. So yeah. Not really feeling the vibe.
4. Too much Romance Literature

Recently in school I have had to indulge romance literature (such as Madame Bovary, shown above) and write an essay worth around 25% of my final mark on said works. I have dealt with great anger towards these written works. And therefore anything that relates to love currently just does not make me happy. CURSE YOU GUSTAVE FLAUBERT.

Do I really want to make my future boyfriend feel obliged to buy things I don't need and try extra hard to show me his love? I don't think so. I don't want him going broke on my watch.

When you compare my love of chickens (the animal) to Valentine's day, it seems really insignificant. Enough said.
8. Chocolate

I myself am not a huge fan of chocolate. *legasp* I can just hear the hate. But yeah, to the people who like this day for the chocolate, I really don't sympathize. Considering I can get chocolate any time I want, this doesn't really make me care for Valentine's Day.

I don't know about you, but I can't spell for my life. So when people create holidays I really don't like spelling them out. And such is Valentines. Also the capitalizing. Bleh. Therefore I prefer if Valentine's Day was just February 14th. Actually can we get rid of February, I can't spell that either.

I love a good pun and all, but when my friends give me the 1000th most idiotic nerd related puns, it gets kind of annoying. And I also lose all of my puns in one day. Can't pick up people with puns I already used. Darn.

This is more of a why I hate Valentine's Day. My school thought it was a bad idea to put a half day on Valentine's Day so they moved to today. CURSE YOU VALENTINE'S DAY.
